Rules and Terms of Service

Rules for acceptance and participation in this program are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, political belief, or religion.

Arrival and Departure Arrangements
Drop off will begin at 3:00PM. To be fair to everyone there will be no drop-offs before 3:00PM. Pickup is on the final morning after 11:00AM. Campers have responsibilities until this time. Due to these responsibilities as well as other schedule interruptions, if campers are checked out prior to 11:00AM, there will be a clean-up fee of $7.00 per camper, collected at time of pick-up. Please note, NO checkouts can be performed on the final night of camp, during the awards ceremony or the slide show. If pick-up is necessary, it must be before or after these activities. Camper pickup ends at noon. Due to excessive abuse of checkout times, if campers are picked up after 12:00PM on Saturday, there will be an additional charge of $25.00 per camper, per hour, collected at the time of pick-up.

Rooming Requests
If you wish to room with someone specific, please let us know when you send in your registration forms. However, younger campers will not be allowed to move up to room with older campers.

Dress and Conduct
Camp is conducted in a spiritual atmosphere, which includes wearing modest apparel. While we recognize that this means different things for different people we have adopted the guidelines which are followed at Florida College.

Clothing should not have logos or messages that are indecent, “Pajama pants” are not appropriate except in the cabins, All pants, shorts or skirts must come to the knee. All shirts must have sleeves. All clothing should include the proper undergarments and should not be tight-fitting or revealing.
Prohibited clothing includes:
° Halters, tank tops, or blouses showing the midriff.
   ° Backless or low-cut dresses.
   ° Low hip-hugger pants.
   ° Yoga pants.
° Skirts or pants that do not touch the kneecap.
° Skirts slit above the kneecap.

Each camper is expected to follow camp rules. Tobacco, alcoholic beverages, and unprescribed drugs will not be allowed. Stealing, profanity, possession of weapons of any kind or abuse of camp facilities will not be tolerated. Additionally, firecrackers, shaving cream, and water balloon fights are prohibited. Disrespectfulness to counselors and failure to follow their instructions will not be tolerated. Offenders of any of the camp rules are subject to being sent home at the discretion of the camp director, with no refund. A complete list of the rules can be found here.

Cell Phones
Campers are prohibited from bringing any electronics to camp, this includes cellphones. We strongly encourage all campers' cellphones to remain at home during camp. Any cellphones that are brought to camp will be collected and returned at check-out. At check-in, all parents will have an opportunity to obtain the cellphone numbers of directors as well as counselors. If campers are found to have a cellphone, the directors will find some pots, pans and toilets for them to scrub. Not kidding!!

Health and Safety
It is not appropriate for campers to attend camp while sick. If campers are symptomatic within 24 hours of arriving at camp, we ask you to make the difficult choice to keep them home. We recommend (but do not require) that campers receive a flu shot at least 2 weeks before camp. Campers with fever and other symptoms of illness will be evaluated by the clinic and may need to be picked up early.

Trained first aid personnel will be available. Accident insurance (included in camp fee) will be provided for all campers who do not have other insurance and as a secondary insurance for those that do. Insurance information is suggested to be on file for all campers. Zip Lining is an optional, add-on activity made available by the YMCA. Our camp accident insurance does not cover this activity. Therefore, campers who choose to participate will not be able to use the accident insurance should they be injured while participating. Florida College Texas Camp requires a Medical Release Form and a Release and Indemnity Agreement on file and YMCA Camp Grady Spruce requires the parents and guardians of every camper to sign a Hold Harmless Agreement. No one can attend camp without these forms on file.

Activities
The daily camp schedule includes devotions, Bible classes, singing, sports, hiking, games, and regular meals. There is also entertainment each evening, including a New Year’s Eve Party. Horseback riding will be available for an additional fee of $20 and zip lining is an additional $10 (zip lining is not covered by camp accident insurance, so campers participate at the risk of themselves and their guarantors). Campers will sign up and pay during camp concessions so please send cash with interested campers.

Cost and Reservations
The cost is $245 for each camper. If paying by check, make payable to: North Texas Chapter of the Hutchinson Bell. A reservation is made when the camp fee is paid in full.

A full refund is available up to 2 weeks before camp starts. In the time period between 2 weeks before camp and the start of camp, only a 50% refund will be issued. Refunds will be available to campers unable to come due to illness prior to camp and partial refunds will be given for campers sent home early due to illness.

Welcome to FC Texas Camp

Texas Camp is sponsored by the North Texas Chapter of the Hutchinson Bell.  Tom Pledger is our current local chapter President. These camps are the greatest avenue of recruiting for Florida College.

We have divided the camp into two sessions in July. Senior Camp is held first and is for incoming High School Freshman through Seniors.  Junior Camp is the following week and is for incoming 4th graders through 8th graders. We also offer a “half week” Winter Camp between Christmas and New Year’s for the current Freshman Campers and through the previous years High School Graduates.

Our Camp Director’s are, Junior Camp: Thomas and Ashlyn Holder. Senior Camp: Josh Johnson, Lyndan Gann, Leah Gann and Katie Thorpe and Winter Camp: Josh and Ellen Vaughan.

We hope you will consider joining us at our new home, Arrowhead Camp, nestled along the banks of the Brazos River in Cleburne, Texas.

What is “Camp?”

Florida College Texas Camp recruits potential students by providing an experience that promotes Florida College’s mission spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially while building relationships that last a lifetime.

It is a summer and winter camp sponsored and loosely governed by Florida College. The summer camp system was created by Florida College as a recruitment tool to introduce and invite prospective students to attend Florida College. To this end, Florida College summer camps all across the nation are patterned after the spiritual and social structure of Florida College.

We are not a “Church” or “Bible” camp, but we provide a camp that is governed by Christ-like principles. We have Bible study and worship each day because these activities are a part of every Christian’s daily walk. The goal of our camp is not evangelism, nor is the camp an evangelistic tool of Florida College or any religious organization.

We want to provide young people with a balance of spiritual and recreational activities in which there is an emphasis on their relationship with God. We strive to instill principles of honesty, modesty, purity of life, and other virtues taught in the Bible through these activities in this unique setting. We want to clearly communicate the joy of Christian living to both campers and to staff members.

The Summer Camps take place at Arrowhead Camp located on the banks of the Brazos River between Glen Rose and Cleburne., Texas. Winter Camp takes place at the YMCA Camp Grady Spruce located on Possum Kingdom Lake.
